What is the Certificate 3 Guarantee?

The Certificate III Guarantee, which commenced on 1 July 2013, gives eligible individuals the opportunity to complete a full Certificate III qualification. To do this, the Queensland Government will subsidise the cost of training for eligible students.

The Certificate III Guarantee provides subsidies to assist eligible Queenslanders who do not have a post school qualification higher than a Certificate II to obtain a Certificate III level qualification.

Eligibility

The Certificate 3 Guarantee is for eligible Queenslanders who commence a Certificate level III course on or after 1 July 2013.

To be eligible for the Certificate III Guarantee a person must:

not hold or be already undertaking a Certificate III or higher level qualification (Certificate III qualifications completed at school are not counted) be 15 years of age or older have finished secondary school or left school

Queensland resident - an Australian Citizen or permanent resident living in Queensland, or a New Zealand citizen permanently residing in Queensland (i.e. a person with a New Zealand Passport who can also produce documentary evidence of a Queensland residential address).

Employment status does not matter and nor is there any minimum education requirement, only the standard entry requirements for the course of study.

Entitlement

Under the Certificate III Guarantee, eligible individuals are only entitled to one Queensland Government subsidised training place in a funded Certificate III qualification. It is very important that prior to signing an enrolment form and committing to a course of study which will use this entitlement, that you take the time to consider the course you are choosing and to compare your training options and costs.

Training subsidy

Under the Certificate III Guarantee, the Queensland Government will subsidise training costs for students across a range of courses at the Certificate III qualification level. The Queensland Government will directly pay the training provider on your behalf the level of subsidy related to the course you enrol in.

The remainder of the course cost must be met by the student. Students should expect to contribute to the cost of their training through a student co-contribution fee.

$50 for Non – Concessional Student

$30 for a concessional Student

Students, including those with a health care or pensioner concession card, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students will receive concessional rate.

All fees are inclusive and cover learning resources and training materials for the duration of the course.

All fees will be charged at the time of enrolment.  Students will be given an invoice for their contribution.

After completion of a subsidies Certificate III Guarantee qualification students will not be eligible for further subsidies.
